Part of the second floor joists were removed in the existing farmhouse to provide a living room with a cathedral ceiling. The remaining joists and wide floor boards were exposed and refinished to make this beautiful dining room.
The addition is home for this new kitchen, built by the Naylor & Breen Cabinetry and Millwork Division. The 4x12 floor joists above were left exposed with 2x6 tongue & groove spruce installed for the finish ceiling.
This project consisted of the renovation 3590 square foot of an existing farmhouse and the construction of a 2848 square foot addition. Many of the features of the existing farmhouse were preserved. Old beams, exposed floor joists, and wide floor boards accent the rooms throughout the existing farmhouse. The new addition included a new mudroom with a slate stamped concrete floor that incorporated the radiant heat. The addition also included a new kitchen, family room with a fireplace, and three bedrooms upstairs.
