Thayer-BTS Housing – Brandon, VT

The Thayer-BTS Housing Project consists of two buildings, one located at the old Brandon Training School and another located in downtown Brandon. The Admin. Building, which is located at the Training School, went through a complete renovation consisting of new interior walls and layout, 3-stop elevator, all new HVAC and plumbing, electrical, insulation and finishes. To deal with the complications of thermal bridging through the slab and exterior walls, the entire building was wrapped and air-sealed from the exterior utilizing a number of blower door tests to ensure the desired effect and an energy-efficient building. Thayer House, located in Brandon, consisted of a deep renovation including all new carpet, paint, slate roofing, bath vanities and fixtures, bath fans, appliances, and some casework. The entire heating system was also overhauled with two new high efficiency boilers supplemented with solar panels on the domestic hot water side.
