This project consisted of the renovation and addition to Middlebury’s historic “John Warren House”, built in 1804-05, to provide a new home for the Vermont Folklife Center. Handicap accessible bathrooms, an elevator, and new fire protection system were installed. The main floor of the completed project provided a Gallery, two rooms of retail space (pictured right), a conference/meeting room, and kitchen. The upper floor was renovated to contain five offices and a common room. |

The ground floor also contains a humidity controlled archive vault, a
processing/archive office, a server/storage room, a shipping/order
fulfillment room, and adjacent recording and sound production rooms
(pictured left & below). The Sound Absorption System in the recording and
sound production rooms included the use of acoustic “Sound Soak” panels,
angled birch wall panels and wood baffles.
