Two Brothers Tavern – Middlebury, VT

The owners of Two Brothers Tavern, Holmes and Beale Jacobs, expanded their street level business to the underground. Although Two Brothers Tavern is a local success, the Owners saw an opportunity to expand while simultaneously creating a much different experience for patrons...Two Brothers Tavern Lounge and Stage. While the food and spirits menu remains the same as the upstairs restaurant and bar, the atmosphere is something quite different. A jet black ceiling is highlighted with custom wood panels which appear to be suspended in mid air. The placement of these "clouds" not only adds some whimsy to the space but also mirrors designated areas of inlayed bamboo floor finishes at the lounge, stage and bar. Surrounding the bamboo floor is a colored concrete slab, adding durability and longevity to the high-traffic areas. Although the floors and ceilings will certainly grab your eye upon entering, the custom mahogany bar and wall panels are what truly frame the entire space all crafted by Naylor & Breen's Hawk Hill Cabinetry & Custom Woodwork shop. The solid mahogany bar and wall panels, juxtaposed with the natural stone walls create a pleasing contrast of textures, while adding depth and interest. The high-end lighting, custom millwork, and imaginative finishes create a space like none other in the area.
